Some people learn to DJ or produce music, but there’s a small percentage who have an innate talent, something that can’t be learnt. At just 23 years old, Robert Cashin is one of these few.
Playing out from the age of 17, Robert is no stranger to the Cardiff music scene. His residencies with some of South Wales’ most successful nights, including Syntheitc and more recently Ghosts has seen Robert playing alongside the likes of Justin Drake, Lee Curtis, James Zabiela, Tim Sheridan and Tim Green but to name a few.
On the decks, the combination on deep house riffs and driving techno bass lines offer something for the dedicated clubber and musical connoisseur alike. This technical proficiency is ever more evident in the studio, with his use of complex percussion and warm melodic sounds stamping the Cashin trademark onto his productions.
Robert’s fresh sounds and techniques have caught the ears of many industry veterans and this has seen him working with a number of reputable producers. This year has really seen Robert join the crème de la crème of the music world, gaining support from the likes of DJ Hell, Lucaino and Stephan Bodzin. His remix of Cassius, Feeling for you reached No. 5 in Mixmags Big Tunes Chart and gigs included Kinetic groove in Germany and Cocoon in Birmingham. Furthermore, 2010 is set for even bigger things. With a number of forthcoming releases on a number of high profile labels to add to his already critically acclaimed releases and remixes, including gung ho and full barr.
Going from strength to strength, this new kid on the block really knows how to hold is own in this industry. Needless to say, Robert Cashin is certainly one to watch.
